Stay Connected
Enhance your RV experience with as much connectivity as you can get. Here is what we use to make sure we can use our apps, maps and stream entertainment.
EPIC Off Grid Router / Verizon Unlimited
Our Epic Off Grid router is a beast of a mobile router. Much more robust than your typical hotspot you get from the carriers, the EPIC Off Grid gives you the ability to obtain a stronger signal and has unlimited, un-throttled data.
The EPIC Off Grid is a Verizon plan, making sure we have a different carrier than our cell phones (we have AT&T phone plans) for ultimate connectivity. The always on internet allows us to leave our pups in the RV, with their collars being tracked, and temperature of RV monitored to alert us of danger if the AC or power were to fail. Comes with AC adapter or purchase optional 12volt adapter below.
Epic Off Grid has teamed up with us to offer discounted hardware & an unlimited Verizon plan.
Hardware Cost: $699 ($629.99 with $70 off coupon code pagosa70 | Monthly Cost: *$69 (can be paused for up to three months per year with $20 / month maintenance fee) *Upgrade to Premier for $20 more enabling 1080p video & more

Starlink: A Piece of the RV Internet Puzzle?
Living the RV lifestyle is about freedom, exploration, and creating your own path. But in this digital age, one of the biggest challenges for RVers is staying connected. Starlink, with its promise of high-speed satellite internet, seems like a dream come true for nomads. And in many ways, it is! However, before you shell out the cash for a Starlink system, there are some important things to consider.
The Starlink Promise
Starlink's goal is admirable: to bring fast, reliable internet to everyone, especially those in rural or remote areas where traditional internet services are lacking. For RVers, this means the ability to work remotely, stream entertainment, stay in touch with loved ones, or even homeschool kids from practically anywhere. No more frustrating searches for public Wi-Fi hotspots!
The Reality Check
While Starlink offers many benefits, the reality on the ground can sometimes be a bit different. Here's why:
Overcrowding: As Starlink has become more popular, many users are reporting slower speeds during peak hours, especially in areas with high concentrations of users.
Obstructions: Starlink needs a clear view of the sky to work well. Trees, mountains, or even tall buildings can significantly disrupt your signal.
It's Not a Magic Bullet: Starlink is an amazing technology, but it complements other internet connectivity tools rather than replacing them.
Should RVers Get Starlink?
Starlink can be an incredibly valuable part of your RV's internet setup. It often works brilliantly in open spaces where there's no cellular service. But if you rely on a constant, uninterrupted connection, temper your expectations. It's great as a piece of the puzzle, but not always a complete solution.
We may jump on the Starlink bandwagon some day, but so far have not needed it.
Epic Off Grid
LTE Router

Optional 12V Power Option & Antenna
The Epic Off Grid comes with a 110 power supply, which is fine if you are plugged into shore power. However, if you are not plugged in, your inverter needs to be on and that creates more energy use on your battery. So adding a 12V power source is optimal.
I opted to add a cigarette style plug (easy install. Just remove one of the USB power ports in the RV) and use 12V power to keep internet running when off grid without the need of the inverter.

Waveform Antenna for 5G / LTE
Upgrade to 5.2 dBi gain with an ultra-thin and lightweight profile, significantly improving cell signal to routers with 4 antenna ports, ensuring faster data, lower latencies, and greater reliability.

12 Volt Power Adapter
12-24V DC Car Charger Auto Power Supply Cord Cigarette Lighter Male Plug to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm Connector. Simple cigarette lighter plug can beused in cab, or purchase receptacle to install.

12V Power Receptacle
I replaced one of our USB receptacles in the back of the RV to this cigarette style adapter to plug in our Epic Off Grid. This give me the ability to run the router from battery only. You could forgo this if you plug into cab.
